Alexa Meade manages to skillfully comine paint, installation,  portraiture and photography to create an amazing body of work. Instead of using acrylic paint to create people on canvas, she works backwards by applying paint on her subjects, blending them into becoming part of the artwork. 20 Types of Art Students by Chuck Dillon

Chuck Dillon has been teaching art for the past ten years at the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia. And throughout those years, he's come by many different types of art students. So he decided to create a ketch and categorize each one! Theses sketches are hilarious! I absolutely love the fact that as an art student, I can honestly say that I know someone that fits each category :) I think I'm a small mix of a couple of those students (Snob/Fine Art, Brownnoser, Stressed... ) which one/s are you?

Who's not addicted to Post-Its? They're colorful, convinent and they can stick to anything ( well almost anything ). I've got myself some in the shape of my first initial :) Anyways as I was browsing the internet the other day, I came across this really cool blog named P.I.P ( The Post It Project ). Created by Andy Ristaino, it's a blog dedicated to Post-Its doodles! Does anyone actually go to Work and work these days? I wonder what his boss thinks of the blog :) How do YOU kill time at the office?

Tim Burton is a GENUIS.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorite movie (and I've got a Jack Skellington keychain to prove it). My sister and I used to watch it over and over again as kids. It is absolutely timeless. I also enjoyed watching other Tim Burton movies like James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. And I absolutely can't wait till Alice in Wonderland comes out! According to Wikipedia, "The film will use a technique combining live action, motion capture technology and stop motion". The Thinker

Auguste Rodin, one of the most famous and notable sculptors in history, has set a new record at an auction. One of Rodin's Thinkers was sold for over 3 Million Euors ($4.2 Million).

"The bronze, just 72.5 cm (28.5 inches) high, set a record for any of the Thinkers, a series of 21 sculptures made by Rodin in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

One of the most famous sculptures in the world, the Thinker represents a naked man sitting on a rock looking downwards, with his elbow on his knee and his chin resting on his hand.

Originally designed to be part of Rodin's monumental Gates of Hell, inspired by the works of Italian poet and philosopher Dante, the Thinker took on a new meaning as a symbol of Socialism during a French political crisis in 1906." (Source)

Fallen Princesses..

No such thing as Happily Ever After? Dina Goldstein addresses current issues and replaces the "happily ever after" notion with reality... Commenting on the series, Goldstein says

"I began to imagine Disney's perfect Princesses juxtaposed with real issues that were affecting women around me, such as illness, addiction and self-image issues."

Top 200 Artists of the 20th Century to Now!

After 16 weeks of voting, The Times reveals the top 200 artists working since 1900 (based on 1.4 million votes!).
Here's a list of the top 5:

A Russian artist living in the UK, Yulia continues to "experiment and explore ways of bringing together all the things she likes the most: typography, paper and highly detailed hand-made craft projects".

Fun Facts:

* The video was shot all stills - roughly 3225 still photos for the entire video, using one camera, hanging from the ceiling for the main body of the movie.
 * It took 4 weeks before shooting to create an animated computer generated storyboard for the video, with 3d dummies for the characters.
 * It took only 2 days of shooting for the live actors on set to re-create the 3.5 minutes computer sequence, frame by frame.
 * Some of the bed sheets used in the video were taken from Oren’s own bedroom and are now considered collectors items, worth at the moment not very much and therefore used as bed sheets.
